Caps Today, 3/4/13

Today’s Storyline
The Washington Capitals will practice today at 10:30 a.m. at Kettler Capitals Iceplex.

Capitals prospect Riley Barber helped the United States win the gold medal at the 2013 World Junior Championships in January and has followed up by leading the Miami University RedHawks to the CCHA regular-season title.

Barber, Washington’s sixth-round selection (167th overall) in the 2012 NHL Draft, led the RedHawks with 36 points (15g-21a) in 34 games during his freshman campaign. His 30 league points ranked second among all CCHA players and he led all NCAA freshmen in points (36) during the regular season.

Miami earned a first-round bye in the CCHA playoffs, which begin March 8, and will begin their tournament in the second round on March 15.
