Holtby shuts the door – Braden Holtby’s four shutouts this season are more than Washington’s team leader had in that department in 23 of the team’s previous 37 seasons of existence. With seven career shutouts, Holtby has tied Michal Neuvirth and Pete Peeters for fifth on the franchise’s all-time list. Holtby has stopped all 55 shots he has faced against the Jets at MTS Centre this season.

Feel the power – Alex Ovechkin scored a goal and added two assists on March 21 at Winnipeg, his ninth power-play tally of the season. He currently leads the league in power-play goals and ranks 12th among all active players in career goals with the man advantage (120). Ovechkin ranks second in Capitals history in power-play goals, behind Peter Bondra (137).

A franchise first – The Washington Capitals face the Winnipeg Jets Thursday and Friday nights in Winnipeg, marking the first time in Capitals regular-season history that they will face the same opponent on consecutive nights in the same city. The only other time Washington has played the same opponent in consecutive games on the road came on March 25 and 29 in 2006 at Carolina. The Capitals have played consecutive games, both at home, against the same opponent three times, including Feb. 21 and 23 of this season against New Jersey. (Courtesy of Elias Sports Bureau)

Lots to Laich – Brooks Laich returned to the lineup on March 19, making his season debut, and skated 12:51 while recording one shot on goal, three hits and a blocked shot. Laich added his first assist of the season on March 21 at Winnipeg. Prior to this season, Laich had only missed four games in five seasons combined (all coming in 2009-10). He ranks 19th all-time in games played with Washington (558) and 23rd in points (279).

History of success – The Capitals are 14-7-2 in their last 23 contests against Winnipeg and have shut out the Jets in back-to-back contests at MTS Centre. Washington owns a .597 points percentage all-time against the Jets franchise, the fifth-highest against any team in Capitals history. The Capitals have allowed just 2.86 goals per game against Winnipeg in their history, the seventh-lowest amount against any franchise.
