Caps Today, 4/17/13

Today’s Storyline

The Washington Capitals will be off today and will hold a morning skate at 11:30 a.m. at Scotiabank Place in Ottawa on Thursday.

Washington has now won eight games in a row, its longest winning streak since winning nine straight from Feb. 26 – March 15 of 2011.

Mike Green added two assists last night and has now tallied 7g-4a in his last 10 games. Green ranks second among NHL blueliners in goals scored.

Martin Erat recorded his first goal and assist with Washington last night, his seventh multi-point game of the season.

Braden Holtby stopped 29 shots to record his 20th win of the season. Holtby ranks fifth in the league in wins and became just the third Capitals goaltender aged 23 or younger to record 20 wins in a season (Michal Neuvirth and Jim Carey).
