Caps Today, 7/10/13

Today’s Storyline
The Washington Capitals continue their prospect development camp with on-ice sessions at 9:00 a.m., 10:30 a.m. and conclude the day with a scrimmage at 3:45 p.m.

Capitals prospect Chandler Stephenson recently completed his third season with Regina (WHL), posting 45 points (14 goals and 31 assists) in just 46 games played. He finished the season ranked third on the team in points despite missing 14 games due to injury. The 5’11”, 190-pound forward was drafted by Washington in the third round (77th overall) of the 2012 NHL Draft and posted career highs in assists, points and penalty minutes (37) in 2012-13, his third season with Regina.

His brother Colton played four seasons with Edmonton of the WHL while his uncle Bob played in 18 NHL games with Hartford and Toronto. Chandler’s cousin, Joey Kocur, played in 820 career NHL games with Detroit, the New York Rangers and Vancouver, compiling 162 points (80 goals, 82 assists) and 2,519 penalty minutes. Chandler also has two cousins, Logan and Shay, that play hockey professionally in Europe.
