ARLINGTON, Va. – The Washington Capitals have recalled defenseman Connor Carrick from the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League (AHL), vice president and general manager George McPhee announced today.

Carrick, 19, made his NHL debut against the Chicago Blackhawks on Oct. 1 at United Center. The 5’10”, 197-pound defenseman scored one goal and earned six penalty minutes in three games with the Capitals this season. Carrick became the seventh youngest Capitals player and third youngest Capitals defenseman to score a goal in the NHL at 19 years and 173 days old.

Carrick recorded four assists in 13 games with Hershey this season. The Orland Park, Ill., native was selected to represent the United States at the 2014 IIHF World Junior Championship in Malmo, Sweden. Carrick registered three assists in five games, led the team in plus/minus (+7), and was named the United States’ player of the game in the team’s 5-3 loss to Russia on Jan. 2.

Carrick was drafted by Washington in the fifth round, 137th overall, in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft.
