Washington Capitals Chris Brown and Stanislav Galiev to Participate in D.C. Public Schools Beautification Day on Aug. 23

ARLINGTON, Va. – Washington Capitals forwards Chris Brown and Stanislav Galiev will participate in D.C. Public Schools’ (DCPS) annual Beautification Day at Dr. Charles R. Drew Elementary School in Washington, D.C., on Saturday, Aug. 23 at 10:30 a.m.

Joined by more than 100 volunteers, Red Rockers and Wizard Girls, the date will mark the second year all three Monumental Sports & Entertainment (MSE) teams host a Beautification Day project on behalf of MSE Foundation and the sixth year the Capitals have partnered with DCPS and Serve DC – The Mayor’s Office on Volunteerism to participate in Beautification Day.

Brown, Galiev and volunteers will work on several projects to prepare the school for the upcoming academic year. Projects include painting, cleaning, gardening and making signs to welcome the students back for the school year.

Beautification Day was established in 2005 as an annual citywide “spruce up” of D.C. Public Schools prior to the first day of school.

Monumental Sports & Entertainment Foundation supports the charitable efforts of the professional teams under its umbrella: the Washington Capitals, Mystics and Wizards. MSE is committed to the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area and focuses on the following five pillars to maximize its impact and engagement with the community: youth basketball and hockey, education and scholarship, pediatric health and fitness, military and veterans' affairs and hunger and homelessness.
