Capitals Sign Adam Carlson

ARLINGTON, Va. – The Washington Capitals have signed goaltender Adam Carlson to a two-year, entry-level contract, senior vice president and general manager Brian MacLellan announced today.

Carlson, 22, posted a 7-7-3 record with Mercyhurst College (NCAA) this season with a 2.85 goal-against average and a .919 save percentage. The 6’3”, 180-pound goaltender ranked tied for fifth in the Atlantic Hockey Association (AHA) in save percentage this season, 10th in saves (536) and 11th in goals-against average and wins. Carlson earned his first win of the season on Oct. 24 against Army and made 47 saves on Oct. 31 at Ohio State. The Edina, Minnesota, native made a season-high 50 saves on Jan. 22 at Robert Morris. Prior to enrolling at Mercyhurst, Carlson spent two seasons with the Coulee Region Chill of the North American Hockey League (NAHL). Carlson registered a 38-27-10 record with seven shutouts, a 2.52 goals-against average and a .926 save percentage in 81 games with Coulee Region.

Carlson will join the Hershey Bears (AHL) on a tryout agreement.
