The Capitals’ AHL affiliate, the Hershey Bears, will face the Providence Bruins in Game 7 of the Atlantic Division Finals on Wednesday at Giant Center in Hershey. The winner of Wednesday’s game will face either the Syracuse Crunch or the Toronto Marlies in the Eastern Conference Finals.


Nicklas Backstrom (Sweden), Philipp Grubauer (Germany), Evgeny Kuznetsov (Russia) and Dmitry Orlov (Russia) all advanced to the quarterfinals of the 2017 IIHF World Championship. Kuznetsov, Orlov and Team Russia will face the Czech Republic in the quarterfinals, Grubauer and Team Germany will face Canada and Backstrom and Team Sweden will face Switzerland on Thursday.


Grubauer made his 2017 tournament debut on Tuesday in Germany’s 4-3 (SO) win against Latvia, stopping 27 of 30 shots to help Germany advance to the quarterfinals. Backstrom has earned three points (1g, 2a) in two games with Sweden.
