The Capitals recorded 52 shots in regulation during Game 2 on Sunday night against the Columbus Blue Jackets. That marked the most shots within regulation in a home playoff game in franchise history and the second-most in franchise history (54 shots, April 26 at Montreal Canadiens).During the regular season, the Capitals were 19-8-1 when they outshot their opponent and 6-1-0 when they recorded at least 40 shots.

Washington’s 55.17 shot attempt percentage at five-on-five (112 shot attempts for, 91 against) in this series ranks third among all playoff teams and first in the Eastern Conference. Additionally, the Capitals’ 53.57 scoring chance percentage at five-on-five (45 for, 39 against) ranks second among all Eastern Conference playoff teams. Alex Ovechkin leads the Capitals with a 63.38 shot attempt percentage (45 for, 26 against) at five-on-five. Ovechkin, who scored two goals last night and registered 10 shots on goal, is now two goals shy from recording his 50th career playoff goal.
